The kindergarten students celebrated Colours Day on 12.09.19. The
children and the teachers were dressed according to the theme colour of
their respective classes. The celebration included singing and rhymes on
colours: children were asked to bring toys, fruits or objects pertaining
to the theme.
KRISHNA JAYANTHI
”Krishna consciousness spreads wisdom and knowledge.”
Krishna Jayanthi (Janmashtami) was celebrated in our Vidyalaya on 22.08.19.
The
celebration
filled
the air with gusto and the festive feel. The events that fanned the air of
jubilation were
the
KG
children’s depiction of various phases of Lord Krishna, namely; ‘Krishna’s
birth;
Govardhana
Giridhara, Krishna Vishwaroopa Dharshan, Raasa-Leela. ‘Matka Breaking’ was
organised
by the
Vidyalaya for parents. To add colour and more fervour, Dandiya Dance was
performed
by both
our
teachers and parents.
Smt.Pushpalatha, Correspondent – Nataraja Primary and Nursery School was the
Guest
of the
day.
The
celebration was savoured by the distribution of the Prasadh. The whole day
revelled
with the
consciousness of ‘The Eternal Flute Player’.
WALKATHON - BESANT NAGAR
The Karuna Club students of our Vidyalaya participated in the”Vegetarian
Walkathon”,
organised
by
the Karuna Club to promote Vegetarianism. It was a profound movement
wherein, 140
participants
gave
their support. The awareness was done through placards displaying captions
and
slogans on
“No
cruelty to Animals”. The procession took place on the Besant Nagar Beach by
6:30 am.
CCA
As a part of the CCA activities and Krishna Jayanthi celebrations, a
competition on
‘Role
play
of
the characters of Ramayana and Mahabharatam’ was conducted for Classes IV
and V
WORKSHOP ON ‘INDIAN HISTORY AWARENESS AND RESOURCES’
A workshop on ‘Indian History Awareness and Resources’ was conducted on
19.08.19(Monday) and
some of
our teachers attended it. Dr.Raj Vedan was the resource person. It was a
full-fledged
lecture on
the
glory of the Indian History and its splendid and enormous resources.
POSITIVE PARENTING
An orientation session to parents on “Positive Parenting” was held in our
Vidyalaya
which
included
many activities that made parents realise their behaviour with children. The
latter
half of
the
session was question time when parents were encouraged to ask questions and
the
respective
suggestions were given by the counsellor.
DYSLEXIA AWARENESS SECTION
A ‘Dyslexia Awareness Programme’ was conducted for our teachers on
17.08.19(Saturday).
Smt.Vadhana,
who represented MDA, was the resource person. The workshop gave a deep
insight into
how
dyslexic
children behaved, how it affected their academics and the subsequent
remedial
measures and
ways
to
handle those children. It also helped the teachers to change their
perception
towards such
kids.
73rd INDEPENDENCE DAY
The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with the appropriate pomp and pride
in our
Vidyalaya
premises. Shri.P.Thirunavukarasu, DSP (retd.,) Special Police was the guest
of the
day.
Rendition of
patriotic songs, degree of speeches, performance of dances and rhythmic yoga
were
the
highlights
of
the event. The prize winners of full attendance for the academic year
2018-19 were
honoured.
Children, parents and teachers were offered sweets as a mark of celebration.
RAKSHA BANDHAN
Raksha Bandhan was celebrated in our Vidyalaya on 14.08.19 by the children
of Std I.
Children
were
brimming with the festive feel and the happiness that it brings. It was
expressed
through
dance,
rhymes and speech. Girls tied the ‘Rakhi’ on the hand of boys, applied Tilak
on the
forehead
and
gave sweets. Boys in turn gave gifts to the girls. The celebration concluded
with
the Arthi
done
by
the girls. Smt.Yogitha Borikar, one of our parent was the guest of the day.
BOOK FAIR
A book fair was organised by our Vidyalaya from 14.08.19 to 16.08.19.
Children
thronged
around
the
stalls to grab the books. An apt initiated to cultivate the reading faculty
in the
children.
ARADHANA DAY
The 26th Aradhana Day of our Gurudev was observed on 03.08.19 with due
reverence and
devotion to
commemorate the immense service, dedication and zeal of the immaculate Guru,
H.H.Swami
Chinmayananda. The ceremony was inclusive of the rendition of Guru Stotram,
Ashtothra
Namavali,
Paduka Pooja, Bhagavad Gita Chanting (Chapter 1) and special Bhajans.
Shri.L.Hemachandrudu,
Senior
Member, Chinmaya Mission, Chennai was the guest of the honour. The movie ‘On
a
Quest’ was
screened
for children of classes VI to X and parents on that day. Further, the day
was
observed as
‘No
bag
day’ for classes VI to VIII. The thoughts of our beloved Gurudev lingered in
our
minds the
whole
day
through.
CCA
As a part of the CCA activities, ‘Fireless Cooking’ competition was
conducted for
class IV
and
V;
Poetry Recitation for Classes VI to VIII.
GO-GREEN INITIATIVE
One of the interesting activities of the Karuna Club is the “Go-Green
Initiative” –
the
plantation
of the saplings on 23.07.19. The teachers and the students of our Vidyalaya
took up
the
initiative
of planting 25 trees in the campus. Children are encouraged to donate a
sapling/a
book to
the
library on their birthday.
CCA
As a part of the CCA, Classes IV and V took part in the Solo Singing
competition of
Patriotic
songs
on 23.07.19.
GURU PURNIMA
Guru Purnima was celebrated in our school premises on 16.07.19. Brni.Bharati
Chaitanya,
Chinmaya
Mission Sriperumbadur was the Guest of the day. The celebration included
Chanting,
Bhajans
and
Arti.
CCA COMPETATION
As a part of Guru Purnima celebrations, CCA Competitions on Poster Making
for
Classes IX &

Picture Talk for Classes I & II, Drawing & Colouring for Classes IV & V were
conducted on
“Guru
Bhakti”.

KG ORIENTATION
An Induction Session for LKG parents was conducted in our Vidyalaya.

AWARENESS PROGRAM FOR VAN DRIVERS
The safety measures for school children in van as given by CBSE and Supreme
Court

enlisted
by
our Principal. Mr.Rajeesh, Sub-Inspector, Avadi Police Station who was a
special
invitee,
asserted
the same and suggested some more safety measures on road.
KARUNA CLUB INAUGURATION
The inauguration of the Karuna Club took place on 29.06.19. Sri.Ratan Chand
Sharma,

Karuna International, Shri.Ramamurugasan, Educational Officer, Karuna

were the
guests
of the day. The inauguration ceremony included Karuna Prayer, Karuna Pledge

everyone.
KARUNA CLUB WORKSHOP ON HUMANE EDUCATION
The Inauguration session glided into a workshop for Classes IX & X on Humane
Education. The
resource
people were Shri.Ramamurugasan, Educational Officer, Karuna International,
Shri.Appandai
Raj,
former
Educational Officer Karuna club and Smt. Indumathi of Vision Academy. The
workshop
aimed at
teaching
Karuna values, to bring down Global Warming through various ways and
preserving the
Green
Earth.
INVESTITURE CEREMONY
The Investiture Ceremony of our Vidyalaya, of the year 2019-20 was on
01.07.2019
wherein,
all
the
Officer bearers, Captains, Vice-Captains and House Masters were invested
with their
duties
and
responsibilities. Shri.Illamparithi, District Education Officer, Avadi
pinned the
badges and
was
the
guest of honour.
GITA CLASS
On 03.07.19, the teachers of our Vidyalaya were fortunate to attend an
awareness
program on
“Health
is Wealth”. Shri.Venkata Rao Karuturi, National Yoga Trainer, spoke to the
teachers
on
“Control
and
Eradication of Modern Diseases”, by suggesting the correct alternatives to
many
unhealthy
products,
used in our daily life and simple steps to lead a healthy life.
CCA COMPETITION
CCA Competitions for Classes from I to X are periodically conducted on
various
topics like:
Story
Telling, Calligraphy, Bouquet Making, Poem Recitations, Essay and Bhajans.
It is
overwhelming to
see
the enthusiasm and participation of the children.
YOGA DAY
The International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21.06.19 in our Vidyalaya.
There was a
full-fledged
Yoga Day display by students of Class VI. Many parents witnessed the show.

District Chairperson (YOGA-324) Director, Bharat Institute of Yoga College,
who was
the
Guest of
the
day spoke to the children about the importance of the International Theme:
Yoga for
Climate
Change.
MAHASHIVARATRI
“Sometimes, simple faith could lead to profound peace.”
On 04.03.19, Mahashivaratri was observed in our Vidyalaya. Teachers and
students
took part
in
the
Pooja. Bhajans and special prayers were offered.
“Prayers are the most powerful emotions to the highest vibrational energy of
the
universe.”
The Mahashivaratri on 04.03.19 was celebrated with due pomp and zest at the
Chinmaya
Mission,
Thamaraipakkam. It was a grand cultural showcase, manifesting the divinity
and
laudability
of
Lord
Shiva, wherein many schools participated. Students of our Vidyalaya enacted
the
lives of
three
Nayanmars-devotees of Lord Shiva. It was a lively event, spreading positive
vibrations.
CHINMAYA ANALYTICA
“An investment is knowledge, pays the best interest.”
The “Chinmaya Analytica Club”, a club on current affairs was inaugurated on
05.03.19
by our
Principal. This club encourages the children to keep updated about the
important
happenings
across
the globe.
CCA INAUGURATION
CCA for the academic year, 2019-20 was inaugurated on 08.06.19, with a
special
rendition of
Vishnusahasranamam. The Children and all the CCA teachers’ incharge took
part in the
inauguration.
SCOUTS AND GUIDES INAUGURATION
Scouts and Guides for the year 2019-20 was inaugurated in our Vidyalaya on
08.06.19
for
Classes
VI
to VIII. Shri.Kasi Vishwanathan, Scouts and Guides Trainer was the Chief
Guest and
inaugurated
the
movement.
GANAPATHI HOMAM
“Prayer is the nearest approach to god.”
The academic year 2019-20 was set on wheels, with a Ganapathi Homam in our
Vidyalaya. As an
auspicious beginning, special poojas were offered for the welfare of the
Vidyalaya.
Special
Bhajans
were rendered for rain. All the teachers participated in the Homam.
CVP WORKSHOP
A one-day workshop for teachers of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Chennai was conducted
at
Chinmaya
Vidyalaya,
Taylors Road on 05.06.19. The intension of the workshop was to motivate and
train
the
teachers
to
impart value-based education to the students. Swami Anukoolanandaji,
Director, CIRS,
Coimbatore
was
the Resource person (Trainer). The workshop involved activities, lectures,
videos
and
interactive
sessions. The teachers had a lot of take-aways from the workshop.
ENGLISH WORKSHOP
An English workshop on ELT was organised at Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road,
for the
English
teachers of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Chennai on 04.06.19. Dr.Jesudhos, benefitted
every
teacher-participant with his experience, eloquence and competence. The
session was
wholesome
for
having imparted some useful techniques to be implemented in teaching and
communicating.
SCIENCE WORKSHOP
A Science workshop on “Effective Teaching Strategy for Classroom Teaching”
was
conducted on
04.06.19
at Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road, by two subject experts - Mrs.Vasanthy
Vijayakumar and
Mrs.Vijaya
Devanathan from the same school. The workshop highlighted on innovative
methods,
demos,
model
making, games and activities which are to be appropriately incorporated in
teaching.
