National Science Day was celebrated on 28 Feb 2020. Dr.Helen P.Kavitha, Professor & HOD of Chemistry, SRM Institute of Science and Technology presided over as Chief Guest, addressed the students and encouraged them to pursue careers in scientific research citing exciting new research opportunities and discoveries. Science Working Models, Fun Science Games and Block & Tackle competitions were conducted and children participated enthusiastically. Judges chose the best entries and prizes were given away.

Mahasivaratri was celebrated on 21 Feb 2020 at the school Shiva Shrine. With the sankalpam by Madam Principal, Abhishekam and Archana were done by the school temple priests. Children sang slokas, devotional songs and bhajans throughout the Pooja. After Alankaram, Lord shiva was given Aarti and Naivedyam. Event concluded with prasadam distribution to all the children, teachers and parents.

This year's magazines saw a variety of topics. Students from class VI to XI standard submitted their magazine and from each standard, the best magazine was selected and awarded prizes. A seminar was conducted by Varshini Ananth, the Assistant School Pupil Leader of our school for the NCC cadets.
It was an intuitive and interactive session which allowed the students to understand the importance of maintaining their personal hygiene. Firstly, it dealt with how to keep oneself clean by demonstrating the basics of hygiene. It served as a platform for creating awareness and encouraging students to maintain personal cleanliness .This was followed by a round of questions on how to keep one’s surroundings clean and neat. The students gained a lot from this seminar and many actually came to know about the benefits of being hygienic. It was an eye opener for many of the younger students as these habits would be inculcated in them from a very young age.

A seminar was conducted by Yugapriya Thiyagarajan, the Assistant Cultural Secretary of our school for NCC cadets.
This was a session which resulted in the overall growth of the cadets into better humans and citizens of India. This session dealt with the activities and actions required to manage plastic and polythene waste from its inception to its final disposal. It informed the students of the consequences of improper waste management and it’s after effects on the country’s overall development. The students were extremely surprised on knowing the fact that plastic products take more than a 1000 years to fully decompose. This session ended with the students realizing their duties as a citizen and their responsibility of not destroying the hopes for future generations.

Major Gaurav Arya (Retd.) spoke to the students of CBSE schools on 12th Nov 2019 about the Indian Armed Forces. It was organised by the Chinmaya Vidyalayas and hosted at Chimaya Heritage Center, Chetpet. In his talk, he explained the role of defense forces in India, the great wars fought, won and the sacrifices made by the heroes for the country. He spoke on the heart wrenching incidents faced by the Army while defending the nation and their courageous fights. He explained on how the weaponry has changed over the decades and how India now has the best defense equipment. His inspriring talk was well received and children were shown a new career path to pursue in their life.

Trithyasopan test camp was organized by Chennai city cbse schools district on 12th October 2019 at Tonekella camp site, Avadi. 7 Guides along with the guide captain Mrslatha and MrsBharathi attended the camp. Camp started around 8 am and got over at 6pm.
District officials along with guide captains and scout masters tested the scouts& guides in various categories such as uniform, knots, camp craft,safety & first aid, pioneering . They were tested individually and marks were given for log books and records.
Finally they were divided into groups and were asked to make tent and flag pole. District officials and leaders inspected and marks were allotted for the same. At the end they had to write a test for 50 marks covering the entire portions what they have learnt throughout the day.
This camp paved way for the scouts& guides to be prepared for the state camp.

On account of 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Chennai City CBSE Schools have conducted All Faith Prayer and Rally in the Elliot’s Beach on 2nd October 2019. 25 guides and 28 scouts of our vidyalaya along with our leaders attended the rally. Around 750 Scouts and Guides with their Scout Master and Guide Captain gathered around 7.15am in the Morning and offered Prayer tribute to Mahatmaji. All Faith Prayer glorifying Hindu, Islam, Christianity and Jainism were chanted by the Scouts and Guides. It is followed by Gandhiji’sfavourite song VaishnavJanato. Many people appreciated this Event as an apt respect to Mahatma Gandhiji and good recall of Gandhian Values for students.

On account of Gandhi Jayanthi, a rally was organized by Karuna club on 10-10-19. The aim was to promote the Ahimsa pathway of life among children. Children of classes 6, 7 and 8 took part in the rally. Karuna club in-charge Mr. Reddy and our vice principal mam waved the flag and began the rally. Children walked around the nearby area covering all the streets in Chinmaya Nagar and Natesa nagar. They were carrying placards with slogans and posters depicting the path of non-violence. Later, Mr. Reddy spoke about the necessity to stop violence and adopt a peaceful way of living. 3 best placards were chosen and prizes were announced. Overall, it was very successful in creating awareness among children and people of the neighbourhood.

In connection to Golu, Matrudina was celebrated to make students understand and instil the love and reverence for their mother. Children performed the Paduka puja and chanted the Matrustavanam. Bhajans and dance programmes organised added festivity to the occasion.

A navratri golu on the 'Three Lokas' i.e. Brahma Loka, Kailasa and Vaikunta was displayed. The golu was magnificient which depicted the three lokas with Gods and Godesses in cosmos.

Our students of class 9 volunteered to participate in the reading session for the visually challenged conducted by Agal foundation at kola perumal chetty vaishnav school on 15.9.2019. It was a 3 hour reading session where students took turns to read for the visually challenged graduate students, and wrote assignments for them.
As the students read out in Tamil and English language, they recorded their reading in their voice recorders which will be helpful for them to revise during their semester exams.
Our students were happy that they could help the deserving candidates and also very impressed by the interest they showed towards learning, they told us they felt how gifted they were to be of service to somebody.

Narendra Modi on 29-8-19, Thursday. They also took the fitness pledge which was the agenda of the event.Students observed the event enthusiastically and got inspired by the speech given by our Honorable Prime Minister.
Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated on 22 Aug 2019. Children of classes 1 and 2, came dressed as Krishna, Yasoda, Nanda, Devaki, Vasudev, Balaram, Radha, Gopis and Gopas. Children from classes 9 and 10 showed their devotion to the lord by dancing (Kolattam/dandiya) to the tune of a bhajan.
On 24 Aug 2019, a bhajan competition which was adjudged by Sri.Rajaram and a tug of war competition were conducted for parents.

73rd Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour in our Vidyalaya. Shri M.S.Shanmugam, I.A.S., Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board, Tamil Nadu, hoisted the National Flag, presided over the function and distributed the prizes to the primary children for the Academic Year 2018-19.
The flag song, the speeches in English and Tamil and the choral music were a treat to the ears. The programme culminated with the National Anthem and was further sweetened by the distribution of chocolates.

As part of Seva, children of class 7 visited Thamaraipakkam on 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Aug 2019. The students were mainly engaged in creating Azolla pits (Azolla is a Miraculous fern for nitrogen fixation & sustainable cattle feed; Azolla is a free floating fern and can be grown in ponds, pits, tanks, etc)and Kitchen Gardening.
Students also visited nearby villages like Periyathupakkam, Nelvai, Athuppakkam and Mangalam.

26th MahaAradhana Day of PujiyaGurudev Swami Chinmayananda was observed at the vidyalaya premises. The day started with the children of classes 9 – 11 chanting the first chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. This was followed by unveiling the High Achievers display by Swami Mithranandaji. Br.AnandChaitanyaji inaugurated the project day ‘SANGE SHAKTHIHI’ a celebration to commemorate the memoirs of Gurdevby lighting the kuthuvilakku and gracing the occasion. Children came dressed as Gurudev and his favourite deities. This was followed by class II who showcased their talents by singing some of Gurudev’s favourite bhajans. GURUDEV- HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE was the epistle, class III brought out by characterizing people related to the different places Gurudev had left his footprints on in India. CCMTE organised and conducted the 6th “Chinmaya Parichay Workshop” a four day orientation programme for new teachers and vision school teachers at CIRS, Chinmaya Gardens from 10th July 2019 to 13th July 2019. The workshop was inaugurated by Swami Anukoolanandaji, Zonal Head, CCMTE along with Mrs. Shanti Krishnamoorthy, Director of CCMTE and CIRS. Nearly 60 teachers from 35 schools participated in this programme. The whole programme was a package for new teachers to understand the grass root activities of Chinmaya Mission and how CVP has become a pivotal part of this organisation as it makes the vidyalaya as a school with a difference. The students of class 9 organised a full-fledged campaign. For classes 1 & 2 they made badges, posters for them, explained on the importance and ways of saving water, took them on a rally around the school, the students were made to assemble in the auditorium , class 9 students performed a ‘save water, save life ‘ themed mime show for them. Classes 6 , 7 and 8 were involved in a door to door campaign, the students took up the mission of creating awareness in the community. 480 students headed by 50 teachers walked into the streets in teams of 10, to reach out every house in chinmaya nagar. 5 children from class VII & VIII took part in project PARIDHI which was organized by SPACE CHENNAI. The event was organized on account of summer solstice on June 21st. It was a flagship project of "SPACE" to measure the circumference of the Earth by Eratosthenes method. A power point presentation on summer solstice and Eratosthenes method to measure the circumference of the Earth was done. Then, each group was asked to do a hands on experiment using a tool kit.
