The Karuna International club of our school organised a Teachers’ training programme on 15-11-2017. teachers from 6 schools attended the workshop. The workshop was aimed at bringing the teacher community together in contributing to the peaceful co-existence of man and animal on earth. Mr. Paul Bhaskaran, Mr. Dawn Williams Resource Person, Karuna International , Smt. G. Sai Devi,Trans Management Consultant and Mr. Azhagam Perumal Advocate in High court were the guests of honour.

To commemorate the International Day of Non-Violence—the students of the Karuna Club of Chinmaya Vidyalya Sr. Sec. School, Virugambakkam, Chennai, went on a rally on 7 October 2017. The rally was conducted to spread the message of Ahimsa, peace, non-violence and compassion towards all living creatures.
Around 160 students from class 7 took part in the rally which covered a distance of 2 km and was lead by a student dressed as Mahatma Gandhi.
The students carried attractive and meaningful placards on Peace and Non-violence and shouted slogans to spread the message of Ahimsa.
Karuna club Interschool Competitions was organised on 26th August 2017. In this mega event 10 schools and almost 150 students participated. It included a melange of events such as Poetry writing, Poetry recitation, Extempore, Art of leaves, Digi-quiz, Mono acting, Dance, Music, Best out of waste, Cook without fire, T-shirt painting, Rangoli, Yoga, Vegetable printing.
The programme was graced by chief guest Shri Rama Murgesh who shared his views on compassion towards all living beings.

The Karuna Club of our school conducted a Rally on “Say no to plastic” followed by Temple cleaning on 29th July 2017.
The rally was flagged of by Mr.Prakash Gulecha Vice President of Karuna International Chennai Kendra.
The event was covered by Tamilan TV. 150 students participated in the rally carrying placards and shouting slogans, with police escort.
The public was asked to take a pledge to reduce usage of plastic.
Prizes were distributed to 25 students for best placards.
Student Training Programme was conducted on 14th July. Mr.Paul Bhaskaranan was the resource person.
The first session was on developing self confidence amongst students. He gave 10 points theory for developing self confidence like having eye contact, perfect physical appearance, empathy etc.
He told stories on Karuna values to make the program more interesting.
The sessions enlightened the students to be aware of the surroundings and give respect to all living beings.
Chinmaya Vidyalaya Sr.Sec.School introduced Karuna Club in Sricity Chinmaya Vidyalaya on 21st June 2017. With the support of Principal Ms.Hemalatha, the ideas and programs of Karuna Club were explained to the participants. They were very impressed and motivated with the concept of Karuna Club and were happy to take up the responsibility of doing their best and expanding it further.
Karuna Club was inaugurated on 1st July 2017.
The club was inaugurated by Mr. K P G Reddy, Chartered Accountant, Vice President Chennai Kendra and Shri K.P.Gangi Reddy, a visionary social activist.
Mr. K P G Reddy addressed the students and spoke on the Vegetarianism and Water Harvesting followed by a short cultural program.
