The Karuna International club of our school organised a Teachers’ training programme on 22-07-2016. Out of the many schools that were invited, teachers from 15 schools attended the workshop. The workshop was aimed at bringing the teacher community together in contributing to the peaceful co-existence of man and animal on earth. Mr. ShantilalNahar, Vice-president, Karuna International, Mr. Ramamurugesh and Mr. Chidambaram were the guests of honour. Our Principal Mrs. P. Vijayalakshmi delivered the welcome speech and introduced the dignitaries to the gathering.
The morning session was headed by Mr. ShantilalNahar who spoke on the main objective of the workshop. He talked about vegetarianism, cruelty towards animals and the need to maintain the balance in eco-system. He also emphasized on how the teacher community must be a driving force for bringing about a positive change in the attitude of children. Complimentary books were given to teachers who participated enthusiastically. The second session was conducted by Mr. Chidambaram , a resource person who trains people in soft skills. He conducted the session in a very lively and interactive way. In one suchnumber game activity he showed how certain tasks could be accomplished with a smart and skilled approach. He enriched the teachers with a lot of lively quotes like “Interest Initiates: commitment completes.” Mr. Ramanathan, Retd. Professor of History, Presidency college conducted the afternoon session. He spoke on Non-violence. He said that a vegetarian way of life would help attain non-violence. He insisted on sathvik food and spiritualism. The workshop ended with the vote of thanks by Mrs. Bhavani Mahendran, Karuna club coordinator. A few teachers shared their take away from the workshop. It was an enriching experience on the whole.
