The values essential to lead a happy and successful life can be imbued in children in different ways. And if this is done by providing the children a platform to showcase their talents it would be the best opportunity for them. Karuna International, Chennai Kendra and Chinmaya Vidyalaya Sr. Sec. School, Virugambakkam organized the Karuna Interschool Competitions on 22nd August 2015 to instill the values of compassion towards all living beings, vegetarianism and sensitivity towards the environment
The programme was graced by Shri Suraj Saklecha, Philanthropist, Shri Vinod Kumar, Asst. Secretary Animal Welfare Board of India and Shri Mithalal Pagaria, Chairman, MM Jewellery. Shri. Padam Tatia, President Karuna International welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest. The inaugural programme was presented by the host school, Chinmaya Vidyalaya wherein the children gave a speech in Hindi and English, and a mime dance on the need to conserve nature and wildlife was beautifully portrayed by the children. This was followed by a Yoga demonstration to depict the importance of healthy body and a healthy mind. Fifteen competitions, such as Essay Writing, Poetry Recitation, Dance, Music, Yoga, Cook without Fire, Best Out of Waste, Drawing & Colouring, Debate, Poster making, extempore, rangoli, Poetry Writing and quiz for seniors and juniors were conducted. Forty-eight schools and around 1700 participants from various schools in and around Chennai participated in this mega event. The topics for all the competitions were based on Karuna values. All the participants took part with great fervor and enthusiasm. The atmosphere was really electrifying. The valedictory programme was conducted at the end of the day. Shri. Padam Tatia addressed the students and appreciated their whole hearted participation. Sri. Suraj Sakhlecha appreciated the efforts taken by the children and encouraged them to use their innate talents in a constructive way for the benefit of the society. Shri. Vinod Kumar and Shri. Mithalal Pagaria also motivated the children to show their enthusiasm for the betterment of society. The chief guests were felicitated with a garland and shawl. The prize were distributed to the prize winning students. All the children were given a certificate of participation for their enthusiastic efforts. Needless to say, the programme was a grand success, well appreciated by one and all present there. | ||||
