An e-waste drive with a charitable twist is being undertaken by CEG Tech Forum - the technical hub of the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University. It aims at the
* Proper disposal of hazardous e-waste and also * Educating under-privileged children What is e-waste? Electronic waste comprises anything from discarded computers, workplace equipment, entertainment devices, mobile phones, television sets, home appliances and more. One has to know that it includes used electronics that are destined to reuse, recycle, resale. What can we do? * With technology advancing by light years in nanoseconds, don't we tend to change our gadgets every year? * Switching from CRT to LCD and from LED to 3D and 3D to 4K. * Where do you think all our discarded things go? * In the dump yards, overflowing landfills and lakesides. * You must have seen the huge pile of garbage that was unearthed during the Chennai floods. * This is your earth and your life as much as the other seven billion people on the planet. * Taking baby steps to disposing our e-waste is a responsible move towards a greener, safer environment. * The funds raised through the initiative would be used to support schooling for underprivileged children. * Why not we Chinmayites join hands with them for a good cause and bring out the maximum e-waste to make our earth a greener and safer place for us to live and also uplift the underprivileged children. * Come let us all contribute the e-waste that we can and also spread awareness amongst our families, friends and neighbours to make proper disposal of the e-waste or recycle the same. * You are requested to bring the e-waste positively before 30th January 2016 and hand over the same to Mrs.R.Vidya in the third floor computer lab.
