CBSE Yoga National Competition
Students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Senior Secondary school, Virugambakkam participated in the CBSE Yoga National Competition held from 16th October 2014 to 18th October 2014 at Bhartiyam Vidya Niketan, Gwalior, and bagged the first place as National level Champions!! Yoga master Dr. R. Venugopal was awarded as the best coach.
Smt. Maya Singh, Minister for Women and Child Development, Madhya Pradesh was the special guest for the inaugural function. Prem Sundar of class IX got the esteemed opportunity to give Yoga demonstration in the inaugural function on 15th October 2014.
In the under 19 boys category, students from 55 schools from 15 states of India took part in the Group Yoga championship out of which 12 groups were selected for the finals. Our school Boys Yoga team comprising of Shravan Bharani of class X, S.Prem Sundar of class IX, R. Surya of class IX, K.V.Giridhar Dhananjay of class IX and V.Sundar of class VIII emerged as the winners and each of them received a gold medal for the same. The school was awarded with a trophy and Yoga master Dr. R. Venugopal received a shield for the best coach.
In the individual event, more than 100 students participated. Prem Sundar of class IX was placed 4th and Surya of class IX was placed 9th.
V.Virshini of class X, B.Ashrita of class VIII, C.S.Supraja of class VIII, R.Priyanka of class VI and K.B.Thirisha of class VI also took part in the under 19 Yoga championship for girls.
Yoga master of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Senior Secondary school, Dr. R. Venugopal is an accomplished yogachariya and has been accredited with many titles such as Yoga Chemmal from Puducherry Yoga Association, Yoga Chaitanya from Chaitanya Yoga Kendran Karnataka, Yogachariya awarded by Tamil Nadu Yogaasana association and Yoga Bharathy by TamilNadu Women Yoga association. This achievement is surely a feather on the cap for Dr. Venugopal who has always been the pride for the institution.
