The Karuna Club of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Virugambakkam conducted many activities in the month of September.
The students of the Vidyalaya visited the Gosala at Mambalam, They interacted with the people of the Gosala and came to know about the various requirements of the animals and how they were cared for. They even fed the calves with Agathi leaves, bread and bananas. This made them understand the needs of the animals. On 11th September, we conducted the Students Training Programme. Around 80 students actively participated in the two sessions that were conducted. The first session was conducted by Ms. Jyothsana from the Blue cross. Ms. Jyothsana very enthusiastically interacted with the children, showed them a powerpoint presentation on the sad plight of animals, work undertaken by blue cross etc. Later, she gave the children various instances where an animal was in distress and made the children enact the correct way of handling the situation. It was a very lively and fruitful session where children understood the need to voice for the voiceless. The second session was conducted by Mrs. Sai Devi who is an active environmentalist. She captivated the children with the topic 'Green Greedy'. She made children come out with various ideas to conserve the environment. Children came forward and gave various commitments as to how they can save the environment in their own little way. A "Vegetarian Mela' was conducted for the students of classes 6,7 and 8. Children took active part in the competition in which they cooked various simple, healthy vegetarian dishes that were highly nutritious (without the use of fire). Prizes were announced for the best among them, | ||||
