The Karuna Club of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Virugambakkam was inaugurated on 5th July, 2014 by Shri. Padam Tatia, President, Karuna International, Chennai Kendra.
The function began on an auspicious note with the invocation and Karuna Prayer. The traditional lamp was lit, to mark the beginning of yet another year of the continuation of the club. Shri. Padam Tatia, the chief guest, addresses the children and elucidated on the importance of inculcating values like compassion and kindness to mould one’s personality and for making this world, a nicer place to live. He stressed on the importance to save our animal and bird life to save our own lives. He also suggested little ways in which we could save our environment that would not take up much of anybody’s time or energy. The children listened with rapt attention. A cultural programme towards the conclusion of the function added a touch of fun and gaiety to the mood. The tiny tots of first standard performed a RadhaKrishna welcome dance and stole everybody’s hearts with their adorable dance steps and expressions. Prarthana of class 3 spoke in length about what is compassion and how to show compassion towards the weak and needy. Prarthana;s oratorical skills and vehemence in conveying what she believed passionately about, was admirable. The finale programme was a folk dance by children of classes III and IV. The ‘Poi-Kal Gudhirai’ and the ‘Karagattam’ dance threw light on our rich folk lore and ancient dance forms, which again reminds us to revive them. The principal proposed the vote of thanks and spoke in length about the day to day activities of the school which are always based on values. She also spoke about the ‘Seva Sangam’ which has been specially formed in the school, through which students get an opportunity to serve the society and give back a little for all that they get. The function was a grand success and has heralded another year of myriad activities for the club. | ||||
