Karuna Club Awards Galore
The 16th Annual Karuna Convention Award function was held at Bikaner, Rajasthan on 9th and 10th of November. Karuna Club Coordinators of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Virugambakkam, Mrs. Bhavani Mahendran and Mrs. Vasundhara Nahar attended the same. In the year 2013, our school bagged 4 awards in different categories – (1) Acharya Hasti Karuna Award – For the dedicated and unswerving service rendered by the school in instilling values in children. (2) Outstanding Karuna School Award- I prize (with a cash award of 25,000 rupees)-For the variety of activities conducted in school under various categories like Inter-school, Intra-school, rallies, innovative methodologies etc (3) Dayawan Award- I prize by S. Rageshwaran of Class X C (with a cash award of 2000 rupees)-For the compassion shown by the student in protecting animals (Reports were submitted for the same) (4)Dayawan Award – I prize by S. Kaushik of Class II D (with a cash award of 500 rupees) - For the compassion shown by the student in protecting animals (Reports were submitted for the same) They received the awards from the Judge of Rajasthan High Court, Shri. Vineet Kothari, and the Editor of Rashrapatrika, Shri. Gulab Kothari. The award function was covered by several leading newspapers in Bikaner and by TV Channels like ETV Rajasthan. Karuna International is a non-profit service organisation promoting humane values like compassion, kindness, love and respect for environment, and vegetarianism in student community. The primary objective of Karuna Club is to create awareness amongst students,kindle their feelings of love, kindness and compassion towards all living beings and work towards the protection of environment. Considering the present decadence in ethical and moral values, it is apparent that the messages of the past have been consigned to history. It is in this context hat Karuna International and other animal welfare organisations have been diligently working toward reviving the values of ahimsa. The Karuna Club of Chinmaya Vidyalaya , Virugambakkam has been functioning for the past 15 years and has been striving continuously to inculcate humane values in children through various activities like Inter-School competitions , Intra-School competitions, Rallies, Students Training Workshops, Teachers Training Workshops, Visits to orphanages, Goshalas, old age homes, schools for handicapped , making paper bags, planting saplings, cleanliness campaigns, maintaining herbal garden etc. Adding feather to the are the awards won by the club in the years. Every year, the activities of various schools are evaluated through their reports and the best among them are given awards. The16th Annual Karuna Convention Award function was held at Bikaner, Rajasthan on 9th Karuna Club Coordinators of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Virugambakkam, Mrs. Bhavani Mahendran and Mrs. Vasundhara Nahar attended the same. The school will continue to work towards the noble cause of making this Earth a better place to live.
