Instilling values in children is very important as they form the pillars of life. The Karuna club of our school conducted the ‘KARUNA WEEK CELEBRATIONS’ from 3rd of August to 8th August. The various activities conducted are- 3rd August– Talk in the assembly Abhishek Narayan of Class VII A spoke on the topic ‘Good Thoughts lead to Good actions’, wherein he narrated a story about how we must care for our fellow beings and not try to cheat or harm them. 5th August- Visit to Orphanage Children of our Vidyalaya had a wonderful opportunity to interact with the special children of the Aurobindi Ashram at Red Hills. They learnt about the needs of these children and they must be cared for. The children gave crayons and biscuits to them. They spent time with them colouring, talking and also performed a short dance programme for them. 6t h August- Best out of Waste A competition ‘Best out of Waste’ was conducted for the students of classes IV and V. Children made use of used CDs, bottles, bottle caps, greeting cards, paper cups etc to make fantastic objects like pen stand, multipurpose table stand, photo frames, show pieces etc. Children understood the value of things and how we can reuse objects to make useful things. 7th August- Visit to Gosala Our children went to the Gosala in West Mambalam and leant about how these animals must be cared for. They fed the cows and calves with leaves and bread. The care taker of the animals enumerated to the children how these animals are cared for in the gosala. 8th August -Skit on Conserve Animals and Trees Children wore animal masks, dressed up like wood cutters, hunters and poachers and enacted an amazing skit to show how every living being has the right to live. ‘LIVE AND LET LIVE’ was wonderfully elucidated by the children. |
