Unity in Diversity is not just another phrase. But, these words are highly prudent to a country like India that is incredibly rich in culture, heritage and values. Few quotations or statements cannot describe the pedestal that India holds in the world map because of its colorful and unique culture. The warmth in the relations and euphoria in celebrations make the country stand out distinctively in the clutter. On the occasion of the Maha Samadhi day celebrations of our Pujya Gurudev, Swami Chinmayananda, and Karuna week celebrations, the primary students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Virugambakkam organized a project exhibition aptly titled ‘BHARATHIYAM’ on 3rd August, 2013 in the school premises. The small children enthusiastically participated in reinventing our culture and philosophy for the visitors. They very elaborately and creatively portrayed various values such as compassion, love, righteousness, truthfulness, devotion etc., that were passed on to us through generations, and how these values when followed by us help us to lead a peaceful and gratifying life. More than 200 exhibits and live models in the exhibition left the viewers awestruck. Tiny tots as Shiva, Parvati, Brahma, Vishnu, Rama, Sita and other such mythological characters enumerated the values portrayed by these people, which we must follow to lead a peaceful and fulfilling life. Among the other exhibits were the Vedas, symbols and symbolisms, festivals, ithihasas and puranas, varna classification (Duties and nature of work), types of food(satvik, tamasik and rajasik) etc. The variety provided a breathtaking ensemble for experiences that is uniquely Indian. The exhibition was graced by the holy presence Swami Mitrananda, Acharya, Chinmaya Mission, Chennai. The chief guest of the function was Mrs. Geeta Menon, Vice President, Chinmaya Mission, Chennai. Special invitees Shri. Sajjanraj Surana, General Secretary, Karuna International, Shri. K.P.J. Reddy, Senior Karuna Member, and Mrs. Swarnalatha from Karuna International also graced the occasion with their presence. The exhibition received large coverage from the TAMILAN TV. |
