Teachers took part in group discussions and came up with various innovative ideas that can be taken up as a part of Karuna club activities. Ms Jyothsna gave a presentation on animal welfare and how we can save animals from various forms of cruelty. Mrs. Sai Devi gave a presentation on ‘Waste Management’ and showed how we can bring about slight changes in waste disposal, paving way for a greener and cleaner Chennai. Ahimsa Peace Rally On 27th September more than 200 students of our school took part in the ‘Ahimsa Peace rally’. Mr. Selvakumaran from Karuna International took part in the rally. Children made colourful placards with meaningful slogans. They also distributed pamphlets to general public. They shouted various slogans on ‘Ahimsa’ such as ‘WAR IS INSANE, PEACE IS GAIN’, and made the public aware of the need of the hour—‘Peace cannot be achieved by force, but only by understanding’. Mr. Selvakumaran narrated a short story, interacted with the children and made them aware that they must always follow the path of righteousness, even though many may tempt them to follow the easier path of ‘Adharma’. Ms. Jyothsna stressed that ‘Non-violence’ doesn’t stop only with fellow human beings but also with animals, and it is our duty to protect them also. Children were highly motivated and they understood that love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend. |
