STUDENTS WORKSHOP The Karuna Club of Chinmaya Vidyalaya conducted the students training programme on 6th September, Friday at our school premises. It was attended by 95 students from classes VI to IX. Mrs. Lakshmi Neelakantan, CEO Karuna International and Ms. Vasudha, an active Blue cross volunteer who were our guests and resource people, enthralled and motivated the children with their captivating presentations. Mrs. Lakshmi Neelakantan spoke about ‘Humane Values’ such as tolerance, self respect, equanimity, empathy and compassion to children. It was truly an entrancing experience for children who understood the importance of various humane values which must be cultivated and practiced. Ms. Vasudha, a chartered accountant by profession is an active blue cross member. Ms. Vasudha showed a presentation and spoke about animal welfare. She urged the children to adopt an animal as a pet, switch to vegetarianism which is surely a healthier way of eating and also show compassion towards animals. Children were convinced beyond any doubts regarding the cruelty meted on animals and the need for caring for animals. At the end of the sessions, children came forward with many queries about animal welfare societies and were motivated to adopt an animal and take good care of it. Children sang the Karuna Prayer and also took the Karuna pledge. BLUE CROSS VISIT Around 40 students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Virugambakkam visited the Blue cross along with their teachers on 6th September, Friday as a part of Karuna Club activity. The visit was a truly different experience for most of the children who saw how different kinds of animals were cared for. Children helped clean the bird shelters and spend time knowing about the different needs and requirements of the animals in the shelter. Children also found it painful to see the diseased animals suffer. They understood the role of the blue cross and need to care for these voiceless animals. |
